Is your toddler ready for potty training?
A few telltale signs that your little one is ready for their next big milestone.
by Coterie Team
Potty training is one of those parenting milestones that’s exciting, chaotic, emotional, exhausting, and hilarious all at once. One minute you’re celebrating a successful potty trip like your child just won an Olympic gold medal, and the next you’re sobbing because that same child pooped on the supermarket floor. It’s not exactly linear—and honestly, there’s no perfect moment to start.
While every child gets there on their own timeline, there are a few clues that they may be getting ready to take their first steps into potty training. Here are some signs to look for:
They're curious about the bathroom
If your toddler suddenly wants to follow you into the bathroom, stare into the toilet, or ask approximately 4,000 questions about what happens in there, consider it a promising sign.
They tell you when they need a diaper change
Recognizing that they're wet or dirty (and letting you know about it) is an important step toward understanding their body’s signs.
They want to do things by themselves
Whether it's putting on their shoes, buckling their car seat, or insisting "I do it!" at the most inconvenient moments, a growing desire for independence often shows up during potty training, too.
They can follow simple routines
Potty training involves a lot of repetition. If your toddler can follow simple multi-step directions and participate in daily routines, they may be ready to learn a new one.
They stay dry for longer stretches
Longer periods between diaper changes can be a sign that bladder control is developing and that they may be physically ready to start using the potty.
They want underwear
Some toddlers become fascinated by "big kid" underwear long before they're ready to wear it full-time. Interest alone isn't a guarantee, but can be a helpful sign that they're beginning to understand the transition.
Of course, even when all the signs are there, potty training rarely follows a straight line. There will be successes, setbacks, accidents, and surprises along the way. But whenever you're both ready, we're here with the tools to help make the process a little easier.
We created our super-absorbent 360° pull-on style specifically for the later stages of potty training, when kids want more independence but still need reliable backup for accidents, naps, overnights, and long days on the go.
A few reasons why we love The 360°:
High-volume absorbency
A patent-pending core built to absorb the larger output of bigger toddlers with bigger bladders.
Day + overnight
Comfy for long travel and school days, but still keeps sheets and pjs dry through the night.
Easy up + down
With 360° stretch, kids can pull them up + down like underwear. When needed, tearable side seams make removal easy.
Safe for sensitive skin
Made with Total Chlorine Free (TCF) pulp and without added prints or scents.
